spacehey escapade
Every few months I get a little trapped in my tiny internet circle. I love the tiny web because, even when your corner of the internet can feel desolate, there's no denying that there are countless personal websites to explore! I learned about SpaceHey (check out my profile) a while back, maybe about a year or so ago, but haven't really checked it out until now. I made an account today while I had a few hours to kill and have been having a blast!

My profile as of now, featuring Kyujin from Nmixx! <3
First things first, I wanted to try recreating my blog theme here, similar to what I did on Status Cafe. My first attempt at just copying over the CSS and making a few edits was pretty successful, but I wasn't sure I was entirely digging the vibe. I really liked the default profile style, and I usually go insane over changing CSS when I really can't stand the original style, so this seemed like the perfect situation to just make a few tweaks and make it a bit more me.
Navy blue is one of my favorite colors, so I made that my background (#000435)! I love the darker colors (and they're easier on my eyes which is a plus), so the only other color change I made was with the little border (#60A5FA) I added around the images (which I also rounded). I might also try and figure out how to remove the "Blurb" and "Friend Space" bars, since I don't love the color and would rather they be removed entirely than make them another color.
After messing around with that, I checked out the Layouts section in the navigation and noticed how many cool profile additions people made! I used this CD Player by Daniel to show In My Room by Julia Wolf on my profile since it's been on repeat lately. It's a super cute addition to my profile that blends in with the blue theme and doesn't stand out too much. Next, I added Kyujin from Nmixx in the "Who I'd like to meet" section because... why not. It's also blue because Theme.
I've been loving scrolling around the Browse section and checking out people's profiles. It seems like there are plenty of new profiles being created and customized, though certain functions like the bulletin feature, which allows users to post temporary blog posts, don't appear to be utilized by all. The main attraction seems to be the profile customization and the ability to change status/mood. I've also seen a good amount of traffic under the permanent blog posts, which have built-in comments. I received a few kudos and a comment pretty quickly, which I as happy with! A lot of people also use it to list their interests and link back to another personal site, so in certain cases SpaceHey is more like a status/interest page to supplement a personal site site than a social media page with an active blog/bulletin feed.
I also noticed a lot of minors using the site, so I've been hesitant to accept friend requests when people don't state their ages (or at least that they're over 18). I know the tiny web is a huge area of interest for a lot of teens, and that's great, but I am just not very interested in being online friends with them! So I've been monitoring whose requests I accept very closely.
Overall, I've been having a lot of fun with SpaceHey this week and implore you to check it out if you think it might just be your thing! <3
