The Birdhouse

Even though it's still over 80 degrees here in Florida, I have successfully deluded myself into thinking fall, and thus the holiday season, has arrived. It may be yet another hottest year on record, but I'm wearing a sweater and sipping hot cocoa in my apartment. If you'll indulge me in my delusions, here is my fragrance holiday wishlist and current favorites for 2024.

Ouai's St. Barts: I purchased this body spray back in August when my mom and I smelled it in Sephora and bought a bottle each on impulse because it was SO DELICIOUS. It's sweet, fresh, tropical, and perfect for that awkward warm-ish period between summer and fall. It's also lovely for after the shower, though I usually spray it on before I leave the house in the morning. The longevity could be better, but it's a body spray and not a perfume, so I give it a pass. Though Ouai also makes a perfume concentration of this I'd love to try!

Commodity's Gold: A mature, sweet, and woody vanilla, I've been told Gold (or woody vanilla in general) is my signature scent. And I couldn't be happier! I've been wearing Gold since 2018 or so, and just can't get enough. It's warm, sexy, great for a night out, but is also surprisingly wearable for everyday. They've reformulated to include two different concentrations of this EDP since I last purchased (and changed the packaging), so I can't speak to its current potency, but Gold has remained a constant in my collection for its year-round versatility, maturity, and just plain yumminess.

Lush's Lord of Misrule: A peppery, green vanilla, I've had my eye on Lord of Misrule for its mysterious take on the classic vanilla scent (can you tell I love vanilla yet?). As much as I enjoy Gold for its warmth, I think the pepper of Lord of Misrule could give me the spice I've been missing in my collection.

Glossier's You Doux: My girlfriend and I recently went to Sephora to try Glossier's two new additions to the You line of EDPs. Doux is a strong dose of musk, wood, and violet that dries down into a sweet and pleasant amber. While I didn't think I'd ever want to smell like a tree (leaves, branches, everything), I fell in love with Doux with one spray. This is a perfect unisex fragrance, and I think it would make a unique and worthy addition to anyone's collection (especially for winter). Once I purchase it, I'd love to see how it layers with more classic scents for a sweet, complex combo.

ʚ ═・୨ ꕤ wishlist (delusional) ꕤ ୧・═ ɞ

Regime Des Fleurs' Fleur Eclair: I've been eyeing Regime Des Fleurs for a while. There are a lot of things I love about them (the packaging, the fun names, the story behind each scent), but I'm just not enough of a florals person to drop $260 USD on a 75ml bottle of perfume. Sorry! That was, until they dropped their take on a gourmand. The scent begins with cardamom sugar, cocoa butter, and rosewater, and melts into an amberous floral. Color me interested! I'm also curious to smell the scent Rock River Melody, apparently named after a pony, but we'll put a pin in that (and Fleur Eclair... unfortunately) until I'm rich.

Kayali's Vanilla 28: While on our mission to successfully sniff the new Glossier scents, I sidequested to smell all of the semi-viral fragrances I'd been seeing over the last year or so. I wasn't expecting to love this vanilla as much as I did, but I am obsessed. Imagine vanilla extract. There you go. That's this perfume. As a vanilla girl, this scent scratches the itch to put straight-up vanilla syrup behind my ears and call it a day. For $100, I'd need $100 to throw around before I get this since it's such a straightforward vanilla, but I'll be keeping my eye on Kayali from now on, mostly to pray it goes on sale.

That's all! If you're as addicted to smelling yummy as me, or you were bored enough to read this whole thing without knowing anything about fragrances, I hope you enjoyed! Feel free to shoot me an email with any recommendations!! (꒪˙꒳˙꒪)
