The Birdhouse

changing my mind

I wrote a while back on merging my online identities (meaning combining all of my online pursuits under The Birdhouse name), a goal I've since done nothing to actualize. I tried putting my music on Bandcamp, but backtracked. I started an online shop for my paper goods, but never uploaded any products. I guess having a concrete online identity isn't what I really want, at least not right now. But it's not like I haven't done anything to make my blog known. I've been making zines and handing them out in real life with my blog and proton attached as the only contacts, I've told friends about my blog, and made this place a hub for my writing. Maybe what I really wanted was for my blog to feel more accessible to people in my life instead of putting more of myself online.

Even with the backtracking, though, I don't think I've entirely changed my mind (sorry for the clickbait). I'll be writing on this blog for a long time, and someday I'll surely want to start distributing my music or make a shop. For now, though, I think keeping my online circle small is what's best for me. That might mean nothing out of the ordinary for you guys other than regular posts, but it means a new side of me for the people I care about, most of which have never read my writing outside of fiction.

Whether you know me in real life or not, thanks for keeping up with me! It means a lot.
