ava's bear blog questions
Why did you make the blog in the first place?
I think the reason stems from two things. First, fiction could no longer satiate my need to yap. Second, some things just aren't for my diary! Do I really need to tell myself how my Tamagotchi helped get me off my phone? Not really, but I figured someone else might benefit from that.
Why did you choose Bearblog?
The simplicity. I tried making my own website, but ended up spent two hours customizing the colors without doing much else and figured I should just get to writing instead.
Have you blogged on other platforms before?
Yep! Good ol' Tumblr.
Do you write your posts directly in the editor or in another software?
I write my posts directly into the editor, but after I've written a few I'll go back in and paste them into a Google Drive folder I have on my computer in case something ever happens to this site (God forbid).
When do you feel most inspired to write?
I feel most inspired to write in the mornings, usually because it's my least busy time of the day and my mind is the clearest then. My favorite mornings consist of me, my coffee, and my blog.
Do you publish immediately after writing or do you let it simmer a bit as a draft?
I tend to publish right away, after I give it a quick skim for typos (unless I don't, then I'll catch the typo a day later and feel embarrassed). I'll let a post sit in the drafts if I've written at a weird hour or it doesn't feel ready to go yet, but most of the time my posts are written and published within an hour or two of starting them.
Your favorite post on your blog?
Hmm, probably reading books you don't understand is good for you or ladybird: a diary entry. Neither are my most popular posts, but to me, they mark the development of my writer's voice the most.
Any future plans for your blog? Maybe a redesign, changing the tag system, etc.?
I plan on creating a tag system as my posts tend to shift tonally on a dime and I want to avoid giving any binge-readers whiplash. I'd also like to add the ability to comment, but my email accomplishes that goal for the most part, so I think I'll save that for later.
Thank you to Ava for bringing some much needed tag nostalgia to Bear Blog! Here's the original post.
