a little hello between papers
Greetings, bloggers and readers (and one-in-the-sames) alike! It's been a hectic two weeks, with very little room for blogging, so I thought I'd hop onto here in between due-soon papers for a life update in the form of a neatly bulleted list.
- My kpop addiction has come back into force full-swing. Last time my wallet was this light was back in August for the NMIXX comeback (Stick Out), and guess who's dropping an album on the 17th? Little to say here other than I have heavily invested in some Meowcafe binder pages and sleeves, because with how much money I'm spending on paper photographs of an idol's face (Haewon
) they better be protected until they get buried with me. I'm collecting FE304 Break, Stick Out, and Midsummer's Dream POBs if anyone out there was thinking of donating to charity...
- I retired the journal I've been using since June 2024 despite it still having around 20 pages left. I think the era I was intending to capture with it has since passed, and I've lost motivation to continue writing in that specific journal. Instead of forcing it and inducing burnout, I'm starting a new journal (volume 10) today! I'm also using this journal to practice my Korean and Spanish (I speak Spanish, but since moving I don't speak it daily and I miss it).
- I recently read A Small Place by Jamaica Kincaid and adored it. I read it for a post-colonialism class of mine and finished it in about an hour or so (it's only 80 pages). In one sentence, it utilizes Antigua as a synecdoche for life in the post-colonial Caribbean islands and is a withering critique of the tourism industry. Not only is it intellectually stimulating, it's hilarious. I strongly recommend you read it if you enjoy biting sarcasm and are looking to expand your worldview.
Like I said about the papers, it's been a hectic two weeks, but things finally seem to be slowing down. I may be weaning off a caffeine addiction and sauntering vaguely downwards into another one, but life is good! Thanks for catching up with me <3
"If you go to Antigua as a tourist, this is what you will see. If you come by aeroplane, you will land at the V.C. Bird International Airport. Vere Cornwall (V.C.) Bird is the Prime Minister of Antigua. You may be the sort of tourist who would wonder why a Prime Minister would want an airport named after him- why not a school, why not a hospital, why not some great public monument? You are a tourist and have not yet seen a school in Antigua..."
